In Fall 2021, City of Austin began to install their My ATX Water smart water systems for existing Easton Park community homes.
The smart water meters allow for customized notifications for each property and daily water use data collection.
The pilot launch for the initiative started in Fall 2020 in selected areas within Austin. Citywide installations beginning in 2021, expecting to continue through 2025 The contract for Aclara’s products and services was awarded on March 26th, 2020.[1]My ATX Water Overview Brochure .
My ATX Water
The My ATX Water portal is a website allowing customers to create an account to:
- View daily and historical usage
- Manage notifications
- Bill payments and management
- Get water conservation recommendations
This account is separate from a City of Austin Utilities account, but uses the same account number to sign up.
Water Forward
The City of Austin smart water meter installation initiative is a part of their 100-year Water Forward water resource and conservation plan. This initiative was approved by the Austin City Council in November 2018.

Aclara Smart Water Meters
The smart water meters were installed by Aclara and uses their advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) called Aclara RF™ network technology. The model is the Aclara RF 3400 Water meter transmission unity (MTU).
